Our herd is comprised of 50 head: one bull, 20 cows with their calves and 10-12 heifers.  

This is not a dairy farm.  The calves stay with their mothers until they wean themselves at approximately 9 months.

In the spring the cattle remain for about one month on the farm (the farm and its surroundings) before they are moved to the high alpine pastures for the Summer.

At the beginning of October when the cattle leave the high mountains, they come back down to the farm until the first snows when they are put in the barns, where they to able to move freely during the winter months.
